ABOUT US
Project Lux is a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between healthcare and houselessness. Our UCLA chapter was founded in 2020, primarily focused on health insurance enrollment, community service and advocacy. Our goal is to connect student volunteers to select organizations that care for the underserved and those experiencing houselessness.
At Project Lux, we aim to create tangible change within the community, working 1-on-1 with individuals experiencing houselessness to gain access to health insurance, directing them to free services/resources and providing them with basic necessities.
HISTORY
When we started in 2020, we envisioned an organization that allowed anyone the opportunity to serve the unhoused community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we aimed to start conversations surrounding houselessness, breaking down common misconceptions/stereotypes. As we've grown, we now make weekly efforts in-person to help individuals get services/essentials such as healthcare, food/water and hygiene products.

More than 40,000 individuals are unhoused in Los Angeles. Many of them are working hard to escape their situation, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even harder for these individuals to get the resources they need.
On this website, you will be able to find ways to volunteer to help the unhoused community along with the ways we do so at Project Lux.
